This short video (1 minute 30 seconds) gives an engaging and informative overview of the causes of climate change. Scientist Bill Nye explains how population growth has caused the burning of fossil fuels to increase drastically and therefore, climate change is occurring. He gives suggestions of what students can do to reduce the effects of climate change such as use alternate forms of electricity or at least less of it. Throughout the video, there are lots of visuals (many in the form of emojis). Not only do the visuals help different types of learners to absorb the information in another way but they also are engaging and relevant to students’ lives. Overall, this video is a really informative and interesting introduction to climate change for students in 2nd-5th grade.
