Dictator for the Day

This lesson plan allows students to personally experience what a dictatorship was like. It has the teacher select one student to serve as dictator for the day. That student will then make all the decisions for the class such as, who will be first for lunch, who gets to be line leader, etc. Then at the end of the day the students will discuss how one person making the decisions impacted the entire class. This is a great lesson activity to use when teaching students about the dictator Julius Caesar and ancient Rome. This lesson plan allows the students to be directly involved and experience first hand what it’s like to live under a dictatorship.
