The Declaration of Independence

The book The Declaration of Independence by Elaine Landu was published by Scholastic. This book is full of facts that will shock and amaze young learners such as one on the cover that says, “New York was the only colony that did not approve the Declaration if Independence on July 4th, 1776!”. There are many timelines, drawings, and photos that tell the story of the Declaration of Independence along a “guided tour”. This book is something I would keep in my classroom library as a teacher. It is important that students are reading 50% fiction and 50% non-fiction. This book gives definitions and has bold vocabulary throughout the book which would make this book perfect for a classroom read aloud.
