American Revolution- Read aloud

Johnny Tremain– Esther Hoskins Forbes can be used as a read aloud to introduce kids to the American Revolution. The book can create background knowledge for the students. I also think this book will get students excited about what there going to be learning. The book is about the challenges he faced everyday during this time. I really like how Johnny is able to explain the Boston Tea Party and the Battle of Lexington because he was a personal witness of the event. During the read aloud students will learn about a time when British colonists in America rebel against the rule of Great Britain. The pictures in the book will also provide kids with a great visual representation during this time. In all, this book is a great, engaging way to introduce the American Revolution.
