BUILDING BIG: Forces Lab

Link

This online tool provides an excellent hands on way for students to simulate different types of forces such as compression, tension, friction, bending, and twisting. It is easy for students to use the sliding scale to watch how the force effects the block on the screen. Students can exert more or less force on the block to see what different amounts of force do. There is also an option for students to click on a link to see an example of how a particular force occurs in real life. I think this simulation tool is great for students in 3rd-6th grade who want to better understand forces and could benefit from a visual representation. It would be great to incorporate in a technology station when teaching about forces!
