Crash Course: Food Chains

In this crash course video, the food chain and why food is so important to all living things is thoroughly discussed. The fifteen-minute video can be used in upper elementary or even in middle school classrooms. By explaining that with food comes energy, students are able to connect as they are first shown how plants attain and use energy from food and so on. In addition, this link provides a great introduction or even wrap up activity to what food chains are and why they are very important to know and understand. While watching the video, teachers and students are given numerous important concepts, as they are displayed and read aloud while the video is in progress. This is a great tool for both teachers and students as it clearly maps out what food chains are and why we should know more about them. This visual stimulation allows both students and teachers dive deeper in the significance of food chains and their overall impact on each and every one of us.
