Energy in a Roller Coaster Ride

This simulator is a great resource to use while teaching the difference between kinetic and potential energy. The simulator shows a roller coaster running on a short course. There are two ways to view the coaster running, a full run through or a run that has 6 stopping points. While the coaster is running on either setting, there is a pie chart that shows the relationship between how much kinetic and potential energy the coaster possesses. It also connects what the students have learning to something that they have probably seen and/or ridden on before.
