Science Books for Kids

This website is a great introduction idea to start any astronomy lesson for elementary students. However, the books on this site range from as young as kindergarten to young adult readers. If an educator would like to try a different type of lesson when it comes to science, they can always read a book to introduce a new topic. The books listed on this site are informational texts (Nonfiction), picture books and fiction texts. An example of an informational text that would be beneficial for teaching third graders is Eclipses by Nick Hunter. If an educator is teaching students in fourth grade, a great picture book is 12 Planets: The Latest View of the Solar System. All the books range from topics about the moon, planets, astronauts, science theories, and star constellations. Another idea instead of introducing as a lesson, the students can read these books in their free time like independent reading.
