This link allows students to view a picture of an animal cell with all of the organelles inside. As students scroll over each part, a description of what the functions are pops up on the right of the image. Underneath the title of the organelle name is a 2-3 word nickname for the cell. For example, the Animal Cell as a whole is called “A Tiny Society”. Within that society are Lysosomes & Peroxisomes, which are considered “recycling stations”. These nicknames can be very helpful to students when trying to recall the functions of each organelle. This link is clear, easy to read, and also provides links to a game or quiz so students can practice their knowledge about the Animal Cell.
