Whales by Seymour Simon

Whales by Seymour Simon is a great non-fiction book with vivid pictures that teaches student about whales.  This book can introduce students to new vocabulary that goes along with studying whales.  Student can learn interesting facts about whales such as size, shape, food source, ect.

This book would be a great source when introducing students to marine life.  Teachers can use this book as an interactive read aloud and do several activities with this book.  I found having students use pictures and context clues to help them determine new words found in this book was an exciting way to get students engaged in learning.
