History Animated – Revolutionary War

This website offers various animations, videos, and interactive maps of the various different battles and events that took place during the American Revolutionary War. Within these animations are visual and written explanations on the different events that took place that influenced the building tension between the American colonists and Britain including the French and Indian War, the Boston Massacre, and the Boston Tea Party. The animations also include the significance and impact of the battles.

This is an excellent resource for fourth grade teachers planning their unit on the American Revolution. It provides visual support for students who better learn through visual cues, as well as written captions to support those images and maps. There are also sound effects to help keep students engaged.
