9 Women Who Helped Win the American Revolution

Students learn about the major men involved in the American Revolutionary War all the time. The names Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Ben Franklin, and Thomas Payne are heard in every social studies classroom learning about the American Revolution. What is frequently left out are the important females. This website highlights nine different women who were influential and important in winning the American Revolutionary War. These women played roles such as spies for the patriots and soldiers disguised as men.

Fourth grade teachers planning a unit on the American Revolution might want to use this website to learn about the important women so that the students can learn and understand that women were important and significant as well.
