4th and 5th Grade Science Lesson–The Water Cycle

This lesson is geared towards 4th and 5th grade students. What I especially love about this lesson is that it is not just a science lesson, but is then turned around into a Language Arts lesson by adding in a writing assignment based on the research the students perform. This lesson is extremely interactive in three major steps:

  1. Students working in pairs to complete research on the water cycle
  2. Teacher shows the students a YouTube clip of the water cycle song once, and then plays the video a second time for the students to sing along–this gets the students acquainted with the different steps of the water cycle
  3. Students work on writing pieces to discuss the water cycle and the significance of the cycle
