3rd Grade Social Studies– Human Use of Natural Resources

I absolutely love this lesson found on teachers.net. One thing I particularly enjoy is that it engages multiple subjects in one: Language Arts (writing and an interactive read aloud) and social studies. This lesson is very engaging. Students will get to interact with the teacher and story of The Lorax during the interactive read aloud, as well as families once their writings are complete. In this lesson, students get to chose a side and write about their opinion as to why they chose that position. Again, this is a great combination lesson incorporating both social studies and language arts.

This lesson is extremely beneficial to students learning about human usage of natural resources, as well as working on their persuasive writing skills.
