This site includes a great lesson that allows students to identify conductors and insulators. Students will do this through making predictions and then testing a multitude of materials in the circuit to determine whether or not the items conduct electricity. This gives students the opportunity to understand how electricity and circuits work. This is a hands-on, lesson, which also allows for students to test different objects and discover whether or not they believe the materials are conductors or insulators. In the lesson students will also receive a worksheet where they will be able to make predictions and record whether or not they believe the object will be an insulator or a conductor. After the students have done the experiment with the simple circuit, they will be able to complete a compare and contrast activity. This is very detailed lesson plan and incorporates all the details necessary for the teacher to implement it.
