American Revolution: A Nonfiction companion to the Revolutionary War on Wednesday

American Revolution

The book American Revolution by Mary Pope Osborne and Natalie Pope Boyce is from the Magic Tree House series and a nonfiction companion to the Revolutionary War on Wednesday. This is a great resource to introduce to students in reading workshop to connect to a social studies unit on the Revolutionary War. Teachers should read the nonfiction book, Revolutionary War on Wednesday before reading this book because it will develop schema for students. Teaching this book to a class of fourth graders, I would use it as their nonfiction resource for gaining information on the Revolutionary War.  This can be a very effective lesson for students because it connects literacy and social studies, which is important because it gives teachers more time to teach social studies in the classroom.
