Carol Hurst’s Children’s Literature site offers descriptions on four children’s picture books from the American Revolution. All of the books are available through Amazon.com. The first book “This Time, Tempe Wick” is a legendary book based on the story of a young girl who hid her horse from the Continental army by hiding it in her bedroom for three days. The second book, “Katie’s Trunk,” discusses a family living in fear of harassment by the rebels. The third, “Aaron and the Green Mountain Boys,” discusses a group called the Green Mountain Boys following the British army take over of Fort Ticonderoga in 1977. The fourth and final book is “Paul Revere’s Ride.” This book contains many illustrations of moonlit landscapes and lamplit street scenes that reflect the atmosphere of the American Revolution.
