The Civil War-II (1863-1865) is the second part to the two-part Civil War series, covering
the times of 1863-1865. Similar to The Civil War-I (1861-1863), this book contains up to 25
chapters on the events of the Civil War. It begins with the strategies of the Union during
the Battle of Vicksburg, continues to the Gettysburg Address, follows through to how African
Americans were free, but separate and unequal, and finally concludes with the attempts at
peace between the North and the South. This teacher’s guide of the Civil War includes
suggested lesson plans or activities for students to role play, important figures of the war,
to design their own maps, or formulate debates within the classroom. Also included are
critically thinking chapter questions at the end of each chapter, and review sheets/tests at
the conclusion of each section. Finally, the back of the book contains twelve color
transparencies that help students visualize the events of the Civil War.
