Ruiz, Andres (1996). The Life of a Cell. Sterling Publishing Company, Inc.; New York, NY.

The author provides the reader with information about cells such as the very first kinds of cells that were recognized, the first organisms with a nucleus, along with how cells need to find food and how the cell digests its food. The book provides the reader with how various cells function, breathe, how they reproduce, and how there are many models of cells. It is an easy-to-read book that contains explanations and fabulous full-color illustrations that almost look like photographs. The writing in the text makes ideas easy to grasp. It is a great book to have in your classroom library and a wonderful resource to use when teaching about various cells.
